In the Classroom
The art classroom is a place for the students to be creative and express themselves in a new way. It has always been a goal to help students who may not think of themselves as an artist, be able to gain a respect for different processes and hopefully see that everyone is an artist in different ways. There are so many different kinds and styles of art to learn from and about. Students are never compared to each other, they are graded on the effort they put forth and how well they follow directions.
In the art classroom we will
· Enhance understanding of various styles and techniques
· Learn about different artists and their styles
· Experiment with paints by mixing colors and showing different techniques
· Create 3-dimensional art using various mediums such as clay, paper, and metal
· Experiment with various art supplies such as crayons, colored pencils, pastels, oil pastels, watercolor paints, and tempera paints
The students have a Winter and Spring art show displayed in the Park School lobby and halls. Several artworks from each class and each grade will represent the projects that are completed at that time.
